CHANGING LIVES…ONE SWEET CUPCAKE AT A TIME
Orlando, Florida –The Orlando Union Rescue Mission (OURM) continues to find solutions to end homelessness in Central Florida. OURM is thinking “outside the box” and is launching their very own cupcake food truck. This is not your typical food truck though; it is unique because it is an extension of OURM’s culinary training program. This program teaches homeless men and women baking and cake decorating in an extensive 9-12 month program under the instruction of expert bakers with over 50 years combined experience. The program provides real job skills for the homeless to become self-sufficient as they transition from being homeless to being able to launch a career in the culinary arts and start a new chapter in their lives.
Our program is headed by one of Orlando’s premier baker/cake decorators, Michael Chiarenza, from Michael Anthony Cakes. His passion and commitment to the program and OURM has produced some of the finest tasting desserts, while making life sweet again for the homeless in our community.
