The Crooked Spoon to open a restaurant this month in Orlando

Foodies, the wait is nearly over. Former Orlando food truck owner Steve Saelg is debuting his first brick-and-mortar eatery, The Crooked Spoon Gastropub, on Aug. 26 at 200 Citrus Tower Blvd. in Clermont.
Saelg was one of Orlando’s food truck pioneers with his The Crooked Spoon mobile eatery, one of the featured truckerson Cooking Channel’s Eat Street TV show in 2011, which was when the street food industry first began growing in Central Florida.
The eatery's menu will feature creative dishes like duck confit tostadas and pecan hickory smoked pulled pork, as well as the food truck's ever-popular 420 burger and the Crooked Spoon burger, said a news release.
And be sure to check back for more details.
Are you excited to get a chance to see Chef Steve in a restaurant setting?

New Food Truck in town Changing Lives

CHANGING LIVES…ONE SWEET CUPCAKE AT A TIME

Orlando, Florida –The Orlando Union Rescue Mission (OURM) continues to find solutions to end homelessness in Central Florida.  OURM is thinking “outside the box” and is launching their very own cupcake food truck.  This is not your typical food truck though; it is unique because it is an extension of OURM’s culinary training program.  This program teaches homeless men and women baking and cake decorating in an extensive 9-12 month program under the instruction of expert bakers with over 50 years combined experience.  The program provides real job skills for the homeless to become self-sufficient as they transition from being homeless to being able to launch a career in the culinary arts and start a new chapter in their lives.

Our program is headed by one of Orlando’s premier baker/cake decorators, Michael Chiarenza, from Michael Anthony Cakes.  His passion and commitment to the program and OURM has produced some of the finest tasting desserts, while making life sweet again for the homeless in our community.

When:          Friday, November 9, 2012

Where:         All Things Sweet by O.U.R. Mission
                   1521 W. Washington St.

Founded in 1948, the Orlando Union Rescue Mission is a 501 (c)(3), non-profit Christian organization providing food, shelter, clothing, and rehabilitative programs to destitute and homeless men, women, and children.
